WHEN Karla Chacksfield gave birth to her third child at the age of 20, she started hiding her post-pregnancy body under baggy clothes as she hated her ‘mum tum’.
But ten years later, the mother-of-three realized she wanted a change, so she decided to spend £15,000 on a “mummy makeover”.
Now Karla Chacksfield, 32, loves taking selfies and flaunting her size 10 figure Instagram page.
Karla, from East Sussex, decided to go under the knife in November 2020 after getting tired of being ashamed of her body after having three children at 21.
The business owner became pregnant with her first son at 15, who was a size 8, her second at 19, and her third at 20. At 21, she was wearing size 14/16 clothes.
Karla said: “I was a young mother so my body went through a lot of changes while I was still growing myself.
“I had split core muscles, an overhanging stomach, and empty, saggy breasts from the weight swings and breastfeeding. No amount of dieting could have gotten rid of that.
“For years I’ve been hiding in baggy clothes, not taking swimming lessons or swimming with my kids on vacation, and I just sat and watched and felt such sadness as I watched.”
In 2017, Karla, who works in network marketing, lost about 2.0 in weight, dropping to 9.5 for her marriage to husband Adam, 36.
But the weight crept back and in 2020 she was a size 12 and weighed 12.2 pounds.
She hated her ‘mum tum’ and said jeans didn’t fit her, so she hid her figure in baggy clothes and oversized t-shirts.
Karla added: “Family vacations and summertime were my least favorite times of the year. I would always cover up because I felt like I looked.
“I’d rather sweat in leggings or jeans and a t-shirt than feel self-conscious in summer clothes.
“I’ve also rarely had any photos of myself from the chest down over the years as I hated the way I looked.
“I’ve always wanted to have a mummy makeover when I’m done with my family and can afford it.”
During lockdown, Karla decided to sign up for surgery and use £15,000 from her life savings.

She had a full tummy tuck, muscle repair, love handle liposuction, breast lift and augmentation in Tunbridge Wells, Kent.
The mother of three was in pain for five days and described the first awakening as feeling like someone had “sat on her”.
But when she first looked in the mirror, she couldn’t believe it was the same woman staring back.
“I had to do this for myself, to feel more confident I covered up a lot more than I should at my age,” Karla explained.
“This involved a lot of work, a full tummy tuck to remove loose skin, muscle repair as when you are carrying children your muscles are separated to allow the uterus to grow and then a breast lift.
“I even had a hernia repaired that was found during the surgery itself and some lipo on the love handles.”
Karla decided to document and share her journey social media.
After the surgery, Karla ditched her boring wardrobe and now loves to wear bright colors and form-fitting dresses. She also says she is a happier and more confident mother and wife.
Karla said: “I know some might disagree with that and I’ve had people asking me why I was spending that money on myself.
“First, no exercise would have sorted out the loose overhang I had and the separation I had in my muscles. Second, I had to do this for myself.
“I’ve never felt this new surge of confidence in my life. I find myself smiling more, I love what I see in the mirror for once and I don’t need to hide my body!
“I can’t stop buying underwear or tighter clothes and I feel happier at home, crazy as that seems. For as long as I can remember, I haven’t felt this happy in my own skin.”
Karla now can’t wait to wear a bikini on vacation and swim in the pool with her husband and their three sons aged 16, 12 and 11.
She is a size 10/12 and weighs 11.11 pounds. She is also more mindful of the food she eats and exercises regularly.
Correcting her abs has helped her strengthen her core muscles and she enjoys Pilates and yoga.
Karla added: “I’ve been so open with my journey on social media and privately. This has helped so many people, I really think it’s such a taboo to have this type of procedure.
“But if you really want plastic surgery, go for it. Just make sure it’s what you really want and that it’s being done for you and no one else.

“Not to look good for others, not because a celebrity has a body you want them to have. Do it for you and only you. Friends have also noticed how much more confident I am.
“I’ve gone from barely taking photos of myself to happily posing!
“I missed so much but no more because my surgery gave me a whole new perspective, positive attitude and self-love that I thought I would never have.
“My sons are happy that I’m happy, they can tell I’m happier in myself and my husband has been my biggest supporter, he loves that I’m more confident and happier in my own skin.”
