I only spend £10 a WEEK on food

With prices rising everywhere, it’s important to save the money where we can.

And one savvy mum who lives in the UK with her husband and two sons has revealed how you can do just that when it comes to your weekly grocery shopping.

Nicola, who regularly posts on her YouTube channel The Frugal Cottage, had revealed how she spent just £10 on a week's worth of groceries at Aldi

Nicola, which you post regularly YouTube channel The Frugal Cottagehas set itself the task of spending just £10 on a week’s worth of groceries in a shopping challenge at Aldi.

She claimed it was the most requested challenge she’s ever had after a previous video hit Morrisons and did exactly the same thing.

Although Nicola explained that she couldn’t check the prices beforehand this time, she still managed to pull off a pretty impressive haul – and even ended up with some cash left over.

  • Six Eggs – 75p
  • Skim Milk (two pints) – 80p
  • White bread – 36p

Nicola shared a breakdown of the cost of the items she purchased (above), but given that she did the challenge last year, it’s worth noting that the prices may have changed since then.

In the video, she then revealed a weekly meal plan featuring the store she bought.

This included instant oatmeal for breakfast and either peanut butter on toast or poached on toast and a banana for lunch.

At dinner, the clever mum placed great value on enough variety so that the meals did not become boring.

She shared how she had jacket potatoes with spaghetti hoops for two nights, chili with homemade potato wedges for four, and an omelet with mixed vegetables the rest of the night.

“I don’t think I’ve ever eaten that many potatoes in a week,” she explained.

“But when it comes to budget-friendly stuff, jacket potatoes are the easiest thing to do.”

However, Nicola had one regret – and that was instant oatmeal.

She also explained that by the end of the week she had leftovers to eat — including an egg, almost a whole jar of peanut butter, two bananas and a third of a loaf of bread.
