A LIDL shopper has claimed she bit into a shard of glass hidden in a fruit and nut bar.
Rebecca Miah from Bexleyheath in the south LondonDuring her weekly shopping on Saturday, she bought a pack of cocoa-orange-raw fruit bars from the supermarket.
She said she cut her mouth after biting into a shard of glass that was in the bar.
Her husband Mak posted pictures Facebook his wife, who is holding the chewed remains of the bar, the piece of glass next to it.
He said they had been in touch Lidlwho had apologized and said they would investigate the incident.
said Mak MyLondon: “We did our weekly shopping yesterday.
“Rebecca had one of the bars and bit into something hard and spat it out to find this piece of glass.
“After contacting Lidl via Facebook they just wanted our email and postal address and said they would be in touch soon.
“They didn’t ask for a phone number to discuss this so I posted to a local Facebook group to let others know so no one gets a nasty surprise or injury.
“Rebecca is fine but someone could get hurt if he doesn’t move on as soon as possible.”
Messages from Lidl, seen by the news outlet, show the supermarket apologizing to the couple and requesting information on the product’s barcode, best-before date and any batch or batch numbers.
The representative also informed them that a quality assurance team was investigating the matter and said a response could be expected within seven working days.
