Hurricane Harvey: City of Houston missed deadlines to spend flood funds, Texas GLO says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – The city of Houston is being asked to return millions of dollars to the state following allegations of its mistreatment.

Our 13 investigative team received a letter from the General Land Office saying the city missed deadlines to issue funds for Harvey flood victims.

The city of Houston has missed benchmarks to distribute funds for Hurricane Harvey flood victims, according to the General Land Office.

The letter also said the city missed seven of the nine benchmarks at the end of June, allowing the GLO to terminate the Disaster Recovery Funds contract.

How much or when the city will have to repay the funds is still unclear.
