An ‘explosion’ rocked homes in Huddersfield last night, less than 24 hours after another home explosion forced residents to evacuate.
Emergency services have been called to two similar incidents in town over the past two nights.
The first blast occurred on Bradford Road around 2 a.m. on Wednesday, causing property damage and forcing neighbors to temporarily re-use it.
The second ‘explosion’ took place just three miles away in the Dearne Fold at around 11:34 a.m. last night.
Police said the second explosion was being treated as an arson, but the cause of the first was not clear.
A resident who lives near Dearne Fold tell Yorkshire Live he saw a ‘cloud of smoke 20ft high’ above the house after hearing an explosion.
He said he ‘poked his head out the window’ and saw a commotion between a man and a woman.
The fire department sent three crews to battle the blaze, and there were no reports of injuries.
A spokesman for West Yorkshire Police said: ‘At 11:34pm yesterday (Wednesday) police received safety call concerns following what was reported as an explosion at a house in Dearne Fold, Huddersfield.
‘Emergency services were on the scene and noticed damage to property and cars outside.
‘No one was injured in the incident, which is currently being treated as an arson, and investigations are continuing.’
It is unclear if this incident is related to an incident that occurred the night before.
Witnesses told Yorkshire Live the first explosion sounded like ‘truck hit a brick wall’ while others said they thought it was a bomb or an exploding trunk.
Pictures from the scene showed a severely damaged home with a large police cord in place.
Police said: ‘Drivers and residents are being advised to be aware of disruption on Bradford Road in Huddersfield this morning following an incident there.

‘No one was injured in the incident and investigations into the cause of the explosion are continuing with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service.
‘A section of Bradford Road between Honoria Road and Eleanor Road remains closed and motorists should avoid the area if possible. “
