Kanye West, also known as Ye, used his Instagram account on Saturday, November 20 to announce his upcoming benefit concert, Free Larry Hoover.

Along with Drake, Kanye will perform on December 9, 2021 at the Los Angeles Coliseum in California.

He captioned the post:

“God’s Plan “

The concert took place after years of eating beef between two rappers, who recently made up after a long feud based on Drake’s insinuations that he was once in a relationship with Kim Kardashian.

In Drake’s song In My Feelings, the Canadian musician raps about having sex with a woman named Kiki, Kim’s family nickname.

Last week, Kanye asked Drake if they could put their differences aside and come together to help the imprisoned Larry Hoover.

He took to Instagram to work out a truce with Drake, stating, “Drake and I both took pictures of each other and it’s time to let it rest.

“I’m asking Drake… to join me on stage as a special guest to share live the two biggest albums of the year in Los Angeles with the ultimate aim of freeing Larry Hoover.”

Tickets for the show will be available for purchase on November 22 at 10 a.m. PST.

According to the Los Angeles Coliseum website, the performance was presented by Donda Touring and was meant to “raise awareness and support for Larry Hoover and the cause of prison reform and sentencing.”

Who is Larry Hoover?

Larry Hoover is believed to be the co-founder of the Chicago-based Gangster Disciples gang.

In 1973, Hoover was sentenced to 150-200 years in prison after being accused of involvement in the murder of 19-year-old William “Pooky” Young, a drug dealer.

In March 1973, Hoover and an alleged gang member were arrested. A few months later, they were charged and sent to the Stateville Correctional Center in Illinois.

While Hoover was in custody, he is said to have remained in charge of the Gangster Disciples, and is said to have controlled the gang’s drug trade from behind bars.

After a 17-year federal government investigation, Hoover was sent to prison for drug conspiracy, extortion, and continued involvement in a criminal enterprise.

In 1997, he was found guilty of all counts and sentenced to life in prison.

Born on November 30, 1950, the 70-year-old is currently serving a sentence at USP Florence ADMAX, a maximum security facility in Colorado.

In July 2021, a federal judge denied Hoover’s offer to clear the case under the First Step Act.

The First Step Act was signed by Trump in 2018 and applies to all drug-related cases before and after 2010.
