How to make chocolate covered strawberries, heart cookies and cupcakes for Valentine’s Day 2022 – The Sun

Not only is February 14 a celebration of love, but it’s also the perfect excuse to indulge your sweet tooth and make some delicious treats at home.
From chocolate-covered strawberries to heart-shaped cookies – here are three simple ideas you can easily get ready for the big day.
Chocolate covered Strawberry
Chocolate covered strawberries are delicious, easy to make, and look good too Valentine’s day decorative table.
You will need:
- Strawberries (one strawberry is enough, but get another if you’re serving more people)
- 200g chocolate (dark is best, but you can use milk if you like)
Line a plate or baking tray with greaseproof paper and set aside.
Bring water to a boil in a pan and place a large heatproof bowl over the pan.
Break the chocolate into chunks and place in a bowl, stirring all the time.
Once melted, dip each strawberry halves in the chocolate, then place on greaseproof paper.
Place the strawberries in the fridge for a few hours to solidify, and when you’re ready to serve, transfer them to a pretty plate.

Heart shaped cookies
Cookies are a favorite and will also last longer than fresh fruit, so you should be able to enjoy them for a few days after February 14.
You will need:
- Betty Crocker Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix
- Big heart shaped cookie cutter
- Red icing pen, if desired
- Preheat oven to 190ºC (170ºC for fan oven).
Mix the cookie dough according to the instructions.
Split the dough into eight equal sized balls and make a heart shape using a cookie cutter
Place them on a baking tray lined with foil and bake for 12 minutes.
Remove them from the oven and place on a cooling rack, and trim the edges with a knife if necessary.
Once cool, garnish with some red ice around the rim, or simply serve straight on a plate.
Valentine’s Cupcakes
The cupcakes are the ultimate sweet treat and can be decorated however you like – you can even try and write your partner’s name in the frosting.
You will need:
- Betty Crocker Vanilla Cupcake Mix
- Two medium eggs
- 45ml vegetable oil
- 50ml water
- Muffin tray filled with cupcake boxes
- Vanilla Icing (Dr Oetker or Betty Crocker are both good)

Preheat oven to 180°C (160°C for fan oven)
Beat the cake mixture with the eggs, oil, and water until smooth.
Pour the mixture into a cupcake tin and place in the center of the oven.
Bake for 15 – 17 minutes or until a knife can be inserted and removed.
Place on a cooling rack and, once cool, cover with ice and sprinkle on top.
