Niantic is hosting a special Weekend Park Spotlight in late March. Unlike the regular Spotlight Hours, this is event will last a whole weekend and the headliner is the Grass/Fairy type Cottonee.
Players have many chances of catching Cottonee when visiting parks, but the most exciting feature is that you can encounter Shiny Cottonee for the first time in Pokemon Go (if you’re lucky)!

How to catch Shiny Cottonee in Pokemon Go
Shiny Cottonee makes his long-awaited debut during the Lush Jungle Weekend Park Spotlight event starting on Saturday March 26 at 10am and ends on Sunday March 27 at 8 p.m.
Although it will be possible to catch Shiny Cottonee after the Weekend Park Spotlight ends, it is best to try during this event since there are hundreds of Cottonee to find by visiting real parks.
You’re not guaranteed to find a Shiny Cottonee, but the best way to increase your chances is to bet on as many wild Cottonee as possible and just walk out of the encounter if it’s not a Shiny version acts.
Remember, you can also use incense and Lure modules where that is possible to get more Cottonee spawns.
How to evolve Cottonee into Whimsicott in Pokemon Go
In order to evolve Cottonee into his final form, Whimsicott, you must collect 50 candies and a sun stone. We have a guide on how to do this Get a Sun Stone here, which should help you find one if you need it.
While the evolution from Cottonee to Whimsicott might seem obvious, we would actually recommend it not Evolve your best Cottonee if you want to compete in the Pokemon Go Battle League.
This is because Cottonee excels in both Little Cup and Little Jungle Cup, where there is a 500 CP limit for participation. These two cups appear in the Go Battle League Interlude Season.
Whimsicott, on the other hand, is of no use at all in the Go Battle League. It can do well in the Go Battle League, but not nearly as well as Cottonee in the Little Jungle Cup.
