ROMELU LUKAKU and Callum Hudson-Odoi could jump straight into Thomas Tuchel’s lineup after returning from the Covid battle.
Summer contract with big money Lukaku has not featured in the Premier League since a 3-2 home win over Leeds earlier this month.
And the last time he finished a full match for Blues in early October against Southampton.
But the match against Aston Villa on Boxing Day could be the best chance to put Lukaku past his stride.
Hudson-Odoi could also start against Steven Gerrard’s men.
Like Lukaku, the 21-year-old hasn’t played since the win over Leeds.
The pair could start in Chelsea’s three-man frontline alongside Mason Mount.
Jorginho and N’Golo Kante could make up the Blues’ midfield pairing, with full-back Marcos Alonso and Reece James flying down the line.
Trevoh Chalobah, Thiago Silva and Antonio Rudiger could be Tuchel’s trio.
And Edouard Mendy is expected to start in goal.
Alternatively, if Tuchel decides Lukaku isn’t fit to start, Christian Pulisic could start in his place.
Mateo Kovacic can start in the midfield.
Sunday’s game was too early for left-back Ben Chilwell.
Tuchel confirmed: “If I get it right, first of all we need a negative test, and we already have that for Romelu. [Lukaku], Callum [Hudson-Odoi] and [Ben] Chilwell today.
“Ben will not be involved in the match against Aston Villa, but the other two can play tomorrow if the test results are negative.
“The players have had some symptoms so we’ll have to see. The Premier League is the hardest place to play so that’s good news but I’m not too excited because I need to check them out.”
