Houston Weather: Thousands of CenterPoint Energy customers in the Houston area are without power during storms

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – Thousands of residents in the Houston area are groping in the dark as thunderstorms roll in.
As of 7:05 a.m. Tuesday, 16,775 customers were without power, according to CenterPoint Energy.

A new tornado watch is in effect for most of Southeast Texas, including the city of Houston, through 8 a.m
Several schools in the area are reopening late Tuesday morning as severe weather could cause slippery road conditions.
A flash flood warning is in effect until 9:00 a.m
