Houston, Texas is expecting a pre-frozen Sunday, here are ways to protect your home and pets.

HOUSTON, Texas – Protect your home before the temperature drops.

That means wrapping any exposed pipe, whether it’s made of plastic, copper, or any other material. Most of Houston won’t experience a hard freeze, so the pipes inside your home should be fine.

As a precaution, turn off the valves and drain the water from your sprinkler system and cover any plants sensitive to cold temperatures with breathable fabric.

The Houston ASPCA reminds you to bring your pet into the house tonight. If you have a pet that you can’t bring inside, keep them in an enclosed and dry structure with a blanket.

The ASPCA says a car can act as a refrigerator, so never leave your dog or cat alone in the car.

Be aware that feral cats may sleep under the hood to keep warm. Before starting the car, smack the hood very hard to give them a chance to escape.
