Houston teacher accused: 2nd grade teacher charged with aggravated sexual assault of child

According to court documents, the alleged abuse happened during the 2016-2017 school year when Bradley Scottrose, 39, was a teacher at Ashford Elementary School. A girl, then seven, told Houston ISD police that her science teacher assaulted her in the classroom.
The girl was kept inside during the break for bullying and said Scottrose started touching her hair and telling her how pretty she was. The incidents resulted in her touching her legs and vagina, court documents said. Sometimes during encounters the girl would say he would make her touch his penis.
Court documents show the girl told another educator at the school, but it wasn’t clear how detailed she was at the time of the alleged assaults. Documents show the now older girl let out specific cries in late 2021 that sparked a full criminal investigation.
“I know they haven’t had a gym teacher since the school year started,” said Susan Lockwood, a mother of three at the school. “We trust these teachers to take care of our children and be a safety net when we are not around. So it’s kind of disheartening when you find out these things happened in the past or present because we trust our kids and we trust the schools to screen those teachers.”
Scottrose was a Houston ISD associate for 16 years. He most recently worked as a PE teacher for Ashford until last year, when parents we spoke to said he had quietly disappeared from classes.
HISD says Scottrose was transferred during the investigation but declined to elaborate on what he’s doing now.
Scottrose’s bond was priced at $75,000. If he posts bail, he can’t get closer than 200 feet to a school or daycare, but is allowed to stay at home with his wife and two biological children.
