Houston ranked sixth overall for growth and stability in the US housing market

HOUSTON, Texas — As Houston’s housing market continues to boom, a new study confirms it’s a top US market for growth and stability.

The study, published by personal finance website SmartAsset, ranks Houston sixth in the US with a 221% increase in home prices over 25 years and a zero percent chance of a 5% decline in value over 10 years .

This follows up with current local trends. According to the February 2022 Market Update from the Houston Association of Realtors (HAR), single family home sales increased 22.9% with 7,372 units sold compared to 5,997 in February 2021. Compared to the last “normal” February – in 2020 – sales volume increased by 23.3%. With fewer housing options available for purchase, consumers saw strong demand for single-family homes for rent in February.
