Houston crime: Man fires gun after seeing 3 men break into his car in Memorial Park, HPD says

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) — A man fired his gun Wednesday night in Memorial Park after three men allegedly tried to break into his car. Police are still looking for two of the suspects.

Houston police said they were already in the parking area when the man confronted the suspects and were able to respond to the scene within seconds.

The man told police he saw three men break into his car around 9:45 p.m. He said he confronted the three men, and when one of them drew a gun, he also drew his.

The ABC13 video showed broken glass in the parking lot where the man’s car was parked.

He fired a shot but missed the suspects. He then said two of the men escaped.

When officers arrived at the scene, they were able to arrest the third suspect.

Police said things could have been a lot worse given the number of people in the park at the time of the shooting.

“Very happy. No one is hurt. We have a suspect in custody,” said Lt. ML Barrow. “The park is safe. We have a lot of resources here.”

Police did not provide a description of the two suspects they were looking for.
