At around 1 a.m. on July 1, Brian West said he and his wife were asleep and were woken up by their dog’s barking. After not seeing anyone downstairs, West checked his doorbell camera footage.
Two thieves in hoodies and masks rummage through his car, where they find house keys West didn’t even know were in it.
One of the suspected burglars tests the key by twisting and turning and successfully gains access.
“When you see someone coming into your house, it’s a pretty scary experience,” West said.
The two thieves are seen entering and exiting the house multiple times before deciding to take off their shoes and drop them. You go back inside for about 15 minutes.
“They came in about three times. Then they take off their shoes, probably because of the noise,” West said. “They take off their shoes and then come back in, just very nonchalantly and casually. Just very strange to do that while sleeping in your own house.”

West, fearing for his and his wife’s safety, believes the thieves should think twice before doing anything like this again.
“My concern is also for their safety if they go into a house and someone has a gun or is doing something against them,” West said. “They’re taking a big risk with what they’re doing.”
West’s wife took this to social media and warned her neighbors so they could be on high alert, prompting other neighbors to quickly tune in.
“A few neighbors saw them walking through cars. A neighbor also caught her on her doorstep,” she said. “I think they were just doing the rounds.”
As far as they know, the burglars found out nothing. However, they took this couple’s sense of security into their home.
“That part kind of scares me. Did they think for 15 minutes about coming back or were they just two kids? You just don’t know That’s part of the thing that goes through your mind,” West said.
The Houston Police Department is investigating and is asking anyone with information about the suspects to call 713-308-0800.
