A SPANISH city has extended its Covid restrictions, leaving Britons scrambling with holiday plans.

The High Court of the Region approved the extension to reduce the spread of Omicron.

Indoor capacity for hotel and nightlife businesses in Murcia is capped at 75%, according to English speakers Spanish news outlet Olive press machine.

Dancing is prohibited, no more than 10 people can sit together indoors or 12 people outdoors, and non-essential businesses must close between 1am and 6am.

Restrictions are increasing in various regions of Spain, with three Canary island placed on high Covid alert.

Tenerife, La Palma and Gran Canaria are all at Covid Alert Level 4 – the highest level – meaning beaches are limited to 50% capacity and those wishing to visit the beach may have to make an appointment.

However, the area of Cataloniaincluding city Barcelonaconfirmed a night curfew will be lifted today – in a bid to give Britons a holiday plan.

Spain’s Covid restrictions have taken a toll on the country’s tourism industry, especially the popular party resort Benidorm.

Around 50% of hotels are forced to close due to a lack of visitors, with hoteliers warning the situation will be as bad as it was during the height of the coronavirus pandemic.

Thousands of Britons have canceled their vacations to Spain in recent weeks due to Covid travel rules barring unvaccinated Britons from entering.

The rule, which applies to children aged 12 and over, has caused problems for families wanting to go abroad as some under-18s have not been vaccinated in the UK due to the vaccine rollout schedule.
