Sammy Carrington (Oscar Wilkins) is finally cured of her cancer in Holby City tonight. He had to go through a lot at that hospital, and there was a time when he packed his little bag and tried to leave. He saw a video of the surgery he was about to undergo online and it didn’t give him confidence.
Oliver Valentine (James Anderson) sympathizes with his fear of not knowing if he will ever wake up and tells Sammy that he has been shot in the head. ‘So you’re like Iron Man?’ Sammy said. Ollie said: “Bullets are lead, so… Lead Man. Sammy was persuaded to have surgery.
This isn’t the only positive thing Ollie does for Sammy in the episode, as he also finds out that Eli (Davood Ghadami) was about to make a mistake during surgery, and had to rush in when Eli was shaken and unable to continue.
Hanssen (Guy Henry) is so impressed he suggests that it’s time for Ollie to return to full-time surgical training. Ollie said no. He realizes that he has yet to recover from PTSD and needs to focus on recovering and being a good father to his son.
We’ve seen him leave Holby, on his way to America, and Zosia (Camilla Arfwedson makes a cameo appearance) and their son Arthur.
On the way out, he passed Nicky McKendrick (Belinda Owusu) on her way in. Is she just visiting to show off her baby to her friends or is she ready to go back to work?
The reason for Eli’s abnormal fluctuations during surgery is because he and Amelia (Lucy Briggs-Owen) have just discovered that their fetus is no longer alive. This was horrifying news, and in one heartbreaking scene, Amelia lit a candle for the baby. “I’m used to our little chats,” she told it. ‘Where do I find you now?’
The grief of loss threatens to pull Eli and Amelia apart, but Josh (Trieve Blackwood-Cambridge) is ready for some wise advice for Eli. Josh has begun to learn to open up and deal with your pain, and he encourages Eli to talk to his wife about how he feels.
It’s no surprise that Ange (Dawn Steele) decided to propose to Josh – he really is a lovely man. When she knelt in the hospital garden, he initially said no. He didn’t want to burden Ange with his bulimia when she had so much to worry about. She reassured him that he was more of a help than a hindrance to her life, so he got down on one knee and proposed to her in turn.
There’s also romance in the air for Kylie (Amy Murphy) and Louis (Tyler Luke Cunningham), after some comic relief with a ‘battery-powered massager’, falling, vibrating, into the hand by Max (Jo Martin), lots of people having fun. Since Louis knows that Kylie only had innocent intentions when she bought the item, she realizes that they’re both on the same wavelength and tells him she loves him. Well, how can you not?
And Carole continues to show Dominic (David Ames) that she loves him from beyond the grave, by leaving a box full of letters for him to read at every key moment in her life – even his birthday. his 100th time. She even chose the song she wanted to play at her cremation: Disco Inferno!
So the episode ended on a pretty positive note – but not for Jac Naylor (Rosie Marcel). As the choir sang carols around the tree, Jac got a little amused and her nose started bleeding. It’s not good for Jac.
