Hochul must dump her ethically compromised Brian Benjamin

gov. Kathy Hochul has a major ethical issue and his name is Lt. gov. Brian Benjamin.

Federal prosecutors are investigating the former Harlem senator’s connections to a shady real estate agent, Gerald Migdol.

The FBI wants to know What role did Benjamin play in the ‘straw’ donations Migdol allegedly wanted to pour into his failed City Inspector campaign last year?

Separately among several fake small Benjamin donations uncovered by the city last year was one of Migdol’s 2-year-old grandson (listed as ‘student’ in campaign finance documents) and the agent’s wife.

Once uncovered, the campaign returned the 20+ spoiled donations that would have been worth thousands in public matching funds. And last year’s headlines forced Benjamin to refund his state Senate campaign fund for “constituent services” at a Harlem jazz club, where he and his wife threw a wedding reception attended by Hochul and other chosen few.

In February, the The Times Union reported in a dozen double burglary cases in which the then-senator received taxpayer-funded travel refunds for expenses charged to his campaign’s credit card. Again he repaid the campaign after getting caught.

He’s also yet to explain why he answered “no” on a background check form for his current job as to whether he’d ever been investigated for such violations, when he knew damn well he had been.

Late last week, federal subpoenas were served on the State Senate in connection with $50,000 in Benjamin’s voluntary spending in his former district, which went to Migdol’s charity Friends of Harlem Public Schools Inc. in 2019.

That’s at least two recent federal investigations, in addition to several other red flags. If Hochul keeps him as her running mate, she’ll prove she doesn’t really care about corruption.
