Hillary Clinton addresses rumors she plans to run in 2024

Twice-failed presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has insisted she will never again seek the country’s highest office.

The former Secretary of State and Senator from New York was asked by CBS Evening News host Norah O’Donnell pervasive rumors that she will once again attempt to avenge her historic losses to Barack Obama in 2008 and Donald Trump in 2016.

“No — no,” Clinton, 74, replied without hesitation when asked if she would “ever run for president again.”

“But I will do everything I can to make sure we have a President who respects our democracy and the rule of law and upholds our institutions,” she added, with a clear shot at Trump.

When asked by O’Donnell how that would work “if Donald Trump runs again,” Clinton bluntly said, “He should be solidly defeated.”

Clinton said that Trump, who beat her in the 2016 election, “should be clearly defeated” if he runs again.

“It should start in the Republican Party – grow a backbone! Stand up to that guy!” she added. “And heaven forbid, if he gets the nomination, he must be flatly defeated and sent back to Mar-a-Lago.”

Clinton also insisted to O’Donnell that the Aug. 8 FBI raid on Trump’s home in Palm Beach, Fla. was “a very different situation” than the months-long investigation into her use of a personal email server while she served as America’s top diplomat.

“I was deleted and [former FBI Director James Comey] just kept talking and talking,” she said. “And then I had a new reason to talk a little bit 10 days before the election.”

“There is absolutely no doubt that he has had a very negative impact on my chances of winning,” Clinton complained.

“It was in the middle of an election, there was nothing and the guy never shut up.

“So I think it’s a very different comparison to what’s going on [with Trump]when it appears that the Justice Department [and] The FBI was incredibly patient, calm and cautious until finally – apparently – they thought national security was at stake,” she said.

Comey famously announced in the summer of 2016 that Clinton had been “extremely negligent” in handling sensitive information, but added that despite “evidence of potential violations” of federal law, “our verdict is that no reasonable prosecutor” was prosecuting a case against the US would initiate former first lady.

Clinton has been the subject of persistent rumors that she would run again after a string of high-profile appearances.

However, she has insisted that she would support President Biden if he ran for a second term in 2024. Hillary Clinton addresses rumors she plans to run in 2024
