Rule change: Get out of your car and change the charge
The Reach of the Netherlands is a safe way to open your car door from the inside.
If you’re the driver, reach for the door with your left arm in front of your chest instead of using the hand closest to the door.
The same goes for the front passenger, but they will put their right hand sideways.
This is because your body will be forced to rotate around, allowing you to see a cyclist, pedestrian, or another vehicle approaching from behind.
Doing this helps you observe your surroundings before opening the door, which means there are reduce the risk of collision with anyone.
The Highway Code amended a rule on the owner of Electric Car their car charger kerbside.
If EV charging points are not used properly, they can be dangerous.
Rule 239 will now say: “When using electric vehicle charging points, you should park your vehicle near the charging point and avoid creating a hazard to pedestrians from towing cables.
“Put up a warning sign where possible. After using the charging point, you should neatly return the charging cable and connector to minimize danger to pedestrians and avoid creating obstacles for other road users. .”
