High School Sports: The Ridge Point girls’ soccer team defeated Stratford 2-0 in overtime to win the 6A regional title at Abshire Stadium

MISSOURI CITY, Texas (KTRK) – Ridge Point High School’s girls’ soccer has a rich heritage. In the school’s brief history, the Lady Panthers have won the district seven times in the past eight years but have never qualified for the state tournament.

On Saturday, the Lady Panthers bought their ticket to a soccer championship for the first time in school history.

Ridge Point defeated Stratford High School 2-0 in overtime to win the 6A regional title at Abshire Stadium in Deer Park.

Charlotte Richardson found the net in the second minute of extra time.

Dayo Tennyson added a late goal for Ridge Point.

Stratford goalkeeper Allison Zilafro was great in goal during regulation time, making 10 saves from 16 shots.

Ridge Point improves to 26-0 this season and plays Rockwall Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. at the Georgetown Athletic Complex.

Lady Panthers have only conceded 4 goals all season.
