HFD responded to a home fire caused by embers around Saturday night on Camden Cove Road near West Lake Houston Parkway

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) – The Houston Fire Department responded to a house fire caused by strong winds Saturday night in northeast Houston.

Officials say a couple was indoors watching TV with a fire sprinkler outside at Camden Cove Lane near West Lake Houston Parkway. The HFD said the fire started to spread into the house with the help of high winds around 9:30 p.m

“Just be careful. Make sure your fire is extinguished when you leave it alone or when you go to sleep,” said HFD County Sheriff Joseph Leggio. “I think in this case, they still have some embers burning in the outdoor fireplace, and it blows out in the wind, pushing it toward the house.”

One firefighter suffered minor neck injuries from debris falling to his head, and the pair were uninjured, according to officials.
