Hernan Lagunas is sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2020 murder of his girlfriend Alexandra Peletay in the Spring area

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A 26-year-old man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to the 2020 murder of his girlfriend.

Hernan Lagunas is accused of hitting his girlfriend in the head, with the hand and with an unknown object.

The attack occurred on January 18, 2020 at block 17000 of Amidon Drive in the Spring area.

His girlfriend, identified as 50-year-old Alexandra Peletay, was taken to hospital with a serious head injury, where she was later pronounced dead.

“We are grateful to Ada Kimberly Garcia, assigned to the Domestic Violence Unit, for her work on this case in ensuring this dangerous individual is kept off our streets,” said the Harris County Attorney’s Office.

According to court documents, Lagunas has just over two years, 805 days in prison that will count towards his sentence.
