AARON RAMSDALE needs to stop breaking David Seaman’s ‘code’, according to the former Arsenal goalkeeper.
The legendary player was impressed by Ramsdale on his debut season at the Emirates with 10 clean sheets and 56 Premier League saves.
But one area of his game that Seaman wants the current No1 to eliminate is berating his defenders – with the 23-year-old Ramsdale often to tear in his back line.
Two-time title winner Seaman, 58, says: “I’ve got this code with my defense, we don’t scream at each other.
“If you’re wrong, we’ll talk later. He just needs a little bit of awareness.”
“For now, he’s not making mistakes.
“If he fouls, then because he’s being careless with his defenders, that gives them the right to come back to him.
“I don’t feel that achieves anything on the pitch.”
Bob Wilson agrees.
Appear on Seaman said podcast, the former goalkeeper added a message of support and constructive feedback to the £30m star, who ousted Bernd Leno.
Highbury hero Wilson, who made 310 of Arsenal’s 874 aggregate appearances on the pod: “I want to say a word to him at the moment.
“You’re doing a great job Aaron. saving Leicester is sensational, one of the most amazing savings ever.
“But there is one thing you need to refrain from doing and that is definitely publicly yelling at people who make mistakes in front of you.
“That’s the only criticism I have of him. His delivery at the moment is also amazing at times.
“I’m sort of in his admiration.
“While I greatly admired the way he handled the Bournemouth and Sheffield United situations, I could never have predicted that he would hit the ground running the way he was and was instrumental in Arsenal in fourth or fifth place. “
