Halo Infinite Leaker Update on Battle Royale Mode Rumors

Ahead of its release, there were rumors about Halo Infinite’s battle royale mode. Since the release, the rumors continued, but nothing happened. In the game’s files, there is mention of a battle royale mode. In fact, there’s even a Halo announcer saying “battle royale” in the files. So the battle royale mode is live or active at some point. If there’s a new leak, it’s a second leak. This week, rumors about Halo Infinite’s battle royale mode resurfaced, with wording that Most Affinity is working on the mode and not 343 Industries. That said, a well-known Halo Infinite leaker has flirted with these rumors, suggesting they aren’t entirely accurate.

Taking to Twitter, Halo Infinite leaker Surasia relayed the information that they heard that Most Affinity is working on the game, but not on the battle royale mode. Instead, the leaker claims the mode is more like “Invasion 2.0”. For those new to Halo, Invasion is a mode similar to the battle royale that debuted through Halo Reach (read more about it here). That said, while it’s similar to the battle royale mode, it doesn’t have the same itch potential.

There’s been a lot of debate about whether Halo Infinite needs a battle royale mode. This regimen is proving to be no fad, but it’s also not a recipe for instant success. Fortnite, PUBG, Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone have made a lot of money, however, a lot of games have tried to recreate this formula and have failed, including major series like Battlefield. Even so, the current battle royale mode seems to be required to take a shooter from massive success to massive success, so there’s plenty of appeal for Xbox to add a mode to Halo Infinite, despite calls from many seasoned fans.

For now, consider everything here with a grain of salt as it ranges from informal to speculative. As always, we’ll update you if any more information is provided or if 343 Industries/Xbox provides any kind of feedback.
