Taron Egerton has withdrawn from his West End play after contracting Covid-19 just weeks after passing out on stage.
the rocket Man star is currently appearing opposite Jonathan Bailey in a revival of Mike Bartletts tail at the Ambassadors Theater.
During his first preview performance on Saturday March 5, Egerton collapsed mid-performance, and the show resumed 40 minutes later. His understudy, Joel Harper-Jackson, then played the role of M.
On Wednesday (March 23) it was announced that Egerton had tested positive for Covid-19 and was again replaced by Harper-Jackson.
“Taron Egerton has unfortunately tested positive for Covid,” read a statement.
“In accordance with production health and safety protocols, he will now isolate himself and we expect Taron to return to the show next week.”
After collapsing on stage, Egerton reassured fans on social media that he was “perfectly fine” with only “a slightly sore neck and bruised ego.”
tail follows John (Bailey), a man who falls in love with a woman (Jade Anouka) after breaking up with his longtime boyfriend (Egerton).
