Greg Russ resigns after botched water-arsenic crisis

The housing authority’s chief executive, CEO Greg Russ, will no longer oversee the day-to-day operations of the embattled agency, two sources told the Post on Thursday.

The move – which will leave Russ as chair of the housing authority’s board – had been in the works since June, when NYCHA’s board of directors voted to split Russ’ role in two.

Rumors of Russ giving up control surfaced after the agency mishandled water quality tests at the Jacob Riss Houses.

But news of Russ giving up control of NYCHA comes after the agency botched water quality tests at the Jacob Riis homes on the Lower East Side that indicated dangerous levels of arsenic, leaving thousands of tenants without drinking water for a week.

The tests later turned out to be wrong, but residents then became concerned about how long the agency was delaying in updating them about the potential health crisis.

Russ will be replaced by the agency’s top attorney, Lisa Bova-Hiatt, a source said.
