Do you realize this former Grand National runner has found a new calling as a TV star dancer?
She sees a world away from the mud cyclist who will ride back to the victor’s enclosure in a fantastic career in the saddle.
Now you’re more likely to see her doing cha-cha than chasing.
But Nina Carberry, who has raced six times in the Grand National, has become the house’s favorite in an entirely new market.
That’s because Nina, 37, is this season’s breakout star of Dancing With The Stars.
As one of the biggest shows on Irish television, Carberry wowed the public and judges with her slick performances.
The bookies beat her 6-4 to win the game, but Nina, who retired in 2018, is less confident in her abilities.
“I don’t think I’m going to win the contest,” she said.

“It took me a long time to learn each of the first dances and now there’s only a week left between each dance.
“I don’t have six weeks left.
“I’m definitely not going to be as good as before and I don’t expect high scores.
“I’m learning from scratch so I need time, so I think it’s going to be really hard for me.
Regardless of what she thinks, Nina is proving to be very versatile with two codes.
She is a first class rider, riding over 400 winners after actually declaring herself with a win over Dabiroun at the 2005 Cheltenham Festival.
It was the first time in 18 years that a female jockey had won a race at the Festival.
Roughly 16 years later, Rachael Blackmore made history as the first woman to be crowned top equestrian at jockey’s biggest meeting.
Mother of two Carberry completed the Grand National four times and her best was seventh on the Character Building in 2010.
She won the Irish equivalent the following year with a 12-1 shot of the Organizedconfusion, a horse trained by her uncle Arthur Moore.
Nina married skydiving friends Katie and Ted, Ruby Walsh’s brother, in 2012.
She took a break from racing in November 2016 when she announced her pregnancy.
‘I THINK I WATCH THIS’
Their daughter Rosie was born in May 2017 but Nina returned to racing with a bang by winning her first race back to Ballinrobe that same year.
Nina still considers time spent with horses an important part of her life, despite perhaps reaching new levels of fame on Dancing With The Stars.
Speaking to Ladbrokes about how she’s managed to cram dance practice sessions into her normal routine, she said, “I have horses to look after at home, so I can just train in evening and could not take the time that I would like.
“But on the show, I couldn’t get over my transformation, they turned me into a completely different person.
“It’s crazy to think that I even look like that. Just looking at myself, I felt ‘this isn’t me’.
“The glam team did a great job backstage with the costumes/makeup/hairdressers.
“It’s the class to be a part of the whole thing and it’s an experience in itself.”
