Goldsboro man flown to Vidant after shooting, suspect on the run: police

GOLDSBORO, NC (WNCN) — A man was airlifted to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville after a shooting Sunday night in Goldsboro that left him seriously injured, the Goldsboro Police Department said.

Around 10:30 p.m., Goldsboro police responded to Wayne UNC Health Care after a report of a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

Determined to require further medical attention, the man, identified as 30-year-old Stephon Hayes, was transported to Greenville. Police did not say when this determination was made or where the gunshot wounds were sustained.

However, officials confirmed that Hayes was attacked with a deadly weapon and the suspect, who is currently on the run, used it with intent to kill or cause serious injury.

This attack is currently under investigation.
