London and Frankfurt opened lower and Shanghai and Tokyo fell. Advanced Hong Kong. Governments have responded to this variation by tightening travel controls, causing uncertainty about the prospects for a global economic recovery. Stocks on Wall Street fell on Wednesday after the Institute for Supply Management reported that US manufacturing activity accelerated faster than expected in November.
