Gleyber Torres’ walk off caps Yankees’ rally to beat Guardians

Isiah Kiner-Falefa spent his first five games in a Yankees uniform wrestling at the plate.
Ten games later, he’s the Yankees’ hottest hitter.
Kiner-Falefa prevailed in the ninth inning on Saturday with a crucial double with two outs and two strikes before Gleyber Torres followed with a walk-off single to lead the Yankees to a 5-4 win over the Guardians in The lead Bronx.
The game ended in an ugly scene. As the Yankees headed to Mob Torres, drinks and trash began to rain down in right midfield near Myles Straw and Oscar Mercado from the Guardians. Shortly before that, Straw had climbed the wall in left field to confront the fans, who appeared to have something to say as left fielder Steven Kwan was treated after he ran into the wall while trying to make Kiner-Falefa’s double catch.

After Nestor Cortes left his latest gem in the seventh inning of a 2-2 game, Josh Donaldson had broken the tie in the bottom of the inning with a solo home run.
But Chad Green failed to defend the lead in the eighth inning when Austin Hedges hit a home run with two outs, two strikes and two runs down left field to give the Guardians a 4-3 lead.

Cortes pulled Jose Ramirez back for the first in the seventh inning for a third time, marking the end of his 91-pitch day. He left the mound to a standing ovation after giving up just two runs to one hit and two walks with eight strikeouts over 6 ⅓ innings.
