With more than 120 nominations and over 60 wins, George Clooney has had a distinguished Hollywood career not only as an actor but also as a producer and director of films and television shows. However, his first feature film – 1987 Return to Horror High – was a critical and commercial flop.

George Clooney’s first feature film was a flop
Although George Clooney had acting experience before landing a role in his first feature film, it was all on television in guest roles and in a recurring role on the show The Facts of Life.
In the horror/comedy Return to Horror High, Clooney plays Oliver, an actor who portrays one of the cops investigating a series of murders at Crippen High. The slasher flick in the film is set at the original high school where the murders took place.

Return to Horror High has all the thrills and chills you would expect to find in a classic horror film. However, reviewers criticized the film. It was also a commercial failure, grossing just $1.18 million at the box office worldwide, according to IMDb.
According to Rotten Tomatoes critic Dustin Putman, the film “only has one scene that’s really scary, and it has to do with two actors being locked in a room while the killer tries to break in. But aside from that two-minute distraction, Return to Horror High is certainly not a big shake.”

George Clooney’s career is still going strong and he has several projects in the works. One in particular Entrance ticket to paradise, caused a stir. The film features Clooney and his Ocean’s Eleven Co-star Julia Roberts as a divorced couple who travel to Bali to prevent their child from hastily getting married, something they thought they had done themselves. The film also stars Kaitlyn Dever and Billie Lourd.
Clooney is also in pre-production on a thriller he has teamed up with director Jon Watts and Brad Pitt for. Though we know little about the project so far, it has resulted in a bidding war between major studios and streaming services, Deadline reported.
