It has given rise to similar attacks by an online group called “Kick the Cat Club” who filmed their shameful antics and circulated the footage online.

Dawn Stacey, 49, faces a £2,000 vet bill after her one-year-old cat Murphy suffered a hemorrhage behind her eye during an attack last week.

Dawn, of Dorchester, Dorset, said: ‘I heard Murphy trying to get through the cat’s flap.
