Businesses in the Bronx have been terrorized by a series of robberies believed to have been carried out by a gang of at least four young men, police said.
In the past two weeks, the gang have vandalized a nail salon, a hair salon and two delicatessens – they have drawn guns and stolen cash and jewelry from their victims, police officers said.
The first of four incidents occurred around 6:30 p.m. on March 12 when four men entered a nail salon at 53 West 181 St. and approached a 36-year-old man who was sitting inside with his girlfriend. One of the robbers drew a gun, and the group made off with a gold chain and a pair of Cartier glasses worth about $19,500, police said.
A few hours later, they robbed a barber shop on Anthony Ave. 2011. Apparently the same group of men threatened those inside at gunpoint and fled with about $21,800 worth of cash and jewelry and about $600 in cash, the NYPD said.
Just after midnight on March 19, three unidentified men burst into a deli on the Grand Concourse, went behind the counter, drew a gun and stole a woman’s gold chain worth about $3,800 before fleeing, police officers said.
Two days later they struck again, this time at Kings Deli at 117 West Kingsbridge Road. Three gun-wielding thieves stole about $800 in cash, $1,000 in CBD oils and $1,300 in electronic cigarettes from the register. They ran west from the store on West Kingsbridge Road, police said.
According to the NYPD, no one was hurt in any of the robberies.
