Fans of DANCING On Ice thought the judges overestimated ‘show favorites’ Regan Gascoigne.
Sunday’s episode saw Love Island’s Liberty Poole have the package sent, although Regan and Happy Mondays’ Bez also suffered a few moments of imbalance.
Regan and her pro skating partner Karina Manta performed a snake-inspired dance to Ed Sheeran’s hit song, Shivers.
The normally confident performer wobbled and nearly fell three times.
But that didn’t seem to matter to the judges who gave him surprisingly high marks.
A panel of Ashley Banjo, Oti Mabuse, Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean gave them 36.5, their highest score to date.
Regan admitted feeling frustrated that he had staggered slightly, and the referees rushed to reassure him.
“It doesn’t matter if you stumble. It makes you human, which is great for moving on afterwards,” Oti told him.
Christopher added: “For me, that would be the skateboard of the series, but you stumble and your score drops.”
But those comments and marks have confused ITV audiences, who have taken to Twitter to complain.
“What with the grading tonight? Regan got 9.5 despite 4 failures. On a basis they give 0.5 per error which means Jane will initially give him 11.5! I think he’s out! sharp, but HE’s slip is more forgivable than others,” complained one fan.
Another wrote: “Bit of ap**s take regan got the same score as Kimberly as she skated amazingly and he tripped a few times!
And a third added: “I haven’t even watched regan’s skateboard and I’m super annoyed when he hit 9.5 even though he almost fell 3 times. Wow!! He’s definitely the one! favorite of the judges.”
Regan made history on the show when Performing for the first time in public scored an amazing 33 out of 40.
The pair scored a higher score than Brendan Cole did on the show a week earlier.
He is the son of an English footballer Paul Gascoignewho played for Tottenham Hotspur, Middlesbrough, Rangers and the England national team.
At the age of six, he discovered his love for the performing arts, and at the age of eight he enrolled in the Hammond Ballet School.
He then studied Musical Theater at Tring Park School of Performing Arts.
