Frigid Temps Coming As Potential Nor’Easter Looms – CBS Baltimore

BALTIMORE (WJZ) – We have a lot to discuss so let’s look at it in chronological order. And starting the discussion was the COLD of the night.
The record low for this day of 2° was set in 1961, when Kennedy was President. The average overnight low is currently 25°. We are forecasting a low of 14° and it will be the coldest night of the winter so far. (At this point, we’re more than a third of the way through the season.)

It will still be chilly tomorrow with a high of just 35°. That’s 43° below the category average. By tomorrow night, winds will turn to SSE and some light air will arrive with low temperatures, forecast at 25°.

Of course, that wind change will come before the Nor’easter is likely to hit the coast hard on Friday and Saturday. And here’s a discussion of a potentially affecting hurricane.
The thinking right now is that at noon on Friday, snowfall will start in Baltimore, peaking at bedtime with areas east of Baltimore bearing the brunt of the event.
By late breakfast the Western Shore would be cleared, and in the early afternoon Nor’easter would be far from us. After that, it turned windy and cold for the rest of the weekend.

As for total snowfall, we believe we’ll see some moveable snow here and again, more eastward as this appears to be a coastal event. But appearance is a BIG word here.
Some storms show their cards early, some don’t. And that’s the case with this one.
We have issued a WARNING DAY for Saturday because we believe there will be an impact on the plans you have or want to make. But wait for the numbers until tomorrow.

A little bit of snow, or maybe more snow, still falls under the “Winter coming” category. Hence the real bottom line, WEATHER WARNING DAY.
