Friendswood Independent School District approves attendance zones for 2023-2024 school year

FRIENDSWOOD, Texas – Redrawn attendance zones for the 2023-24 school year have been officially approved for Friendswood ISD.

The new zones were originally presented at the April 25th Trustees workshop and unanimously approved at the May 9th Trustees meeting.

The 2020 Bond Project building of the new Cline Elementary School, located in the masterplan-planned West Ranch community, replacing the current Cline Elementary School on Briarmeadow Avenue, is a key reason for the new attendance zones.

According to the zoning plans presented at the workshop, the area around the current Cline Elementary School would be divided into Westwood Elementary School and Bales Intermediate School. FM 528 would serve as the main dividing line between Westwood Elementary and Bales Intermediate, Windsong Intermediate School, or Cline Elementary placement, as previously reported by Community Impact Newspaper

Westwood Elementary at 506 W. Edgewood Drive and Bales Intermediate at 211 Stadium Lane, additions and renovations were also part of the 2020 bond and are able to accommodate more students.

Children entering fifth grade this year have the option of staying at the same school they previously attended rather than having to transfer to a new school, as long as parents are willing to provide their own transportation .

In March next year, the district will announce preliminary staffing assignments and then complete them in May before the school year begins in August.
