Four fired in Portland, killing one and leaving 3 injured

At least one person was killed and three youths were injured in a car shoot-out at a gas station in Portland, Oregon, according to police.

The four victims had been standing outside a petrol station near the border with neighboring Gresham when a car pulled up and shots were fired on Sunday night, witnesses told KATU News.

Police confirmed a man was found dead at the scene, while three teenagers were taken to area hospitals, including one with life-threatening injuries.

The man fatally shot was not identified, but officers at the scene told KGW8 that all four of the victims were teenagers.

The shooting came a day after locals said at a Portland City Council meeting that shootings had become a “top priority” amid a “historically low” level of policing in the city that has been a leader in defunding its forces the Portland Tribune notes.

“Gun violence is a public health crisis here,” said Dr. Elizabeth Klein, a volunteer at Moms Demand Action, the meeting.
