Former Blink 182 star Tom DeLonge shares the trailer for directorial debut UFO film Monsters of California

Former Blink 182 band member Tom DeLonge has released the first teaser trailer for his directorial debut Monsters of California.

While the rock musician has numerous acting credits under his belt, including american cake and idle handsthis new film marks his first directorial work.

In the wild trailer, scenes from the sci-fi coming-of-age story offer an eerie portrayal of teenagers stitching together mysterious clues about UFOs and aliens.

The official logline reads: “Monsters of California follows teenage Dallas Edwards and his misfits as they try to find answers to a series of mysterious paranormal events unfolding in Southern California.”

It continues: “As they peel off the layers of this onion of the inexplicable, they unravel the extraordinary secrets that lie hidden at the deepest levels of government.”

DeLonge’s new film seemingly echoes his long-held conspiracy theories about UFOs and extraterrestrial life, which he has publicly reported.

His 2016 book Secretion Machines: Book 1 – Chasing Shadows not only theorized the existence of extraterrestrial technology, but also claimed that the US government had been aware of it for decades.

At the time, he told Rolling Stone that the novel’s information came from “sources within the aerospace industry and the Department of Defense and NASA.”

The upcoming film comes from DeLonge’s independent media company, To The Stars, which strives to “make the world aware of new ideas and new possibilities.” He left Blink-182 in 2015 and was replaced by Alkaline Trio’s Matt Skiba.

The cast includes Richard Kind, Casper Van Dien, Arianne Zucker, Camille Kostek, Gabrielle Haugh, Jack Samson, Jared Scott and Jack Lancaster.

DeLonge shared the first glimpse on his social media, and fans praised the musician’s new project.

“Looks really good, man. I like the tone,” one person wrote.

Another added that it felt like a “mix between.” super 8 and stranger things“.

“You are a film director! Holy shit. And a good one,” one commented.
