Forbes calls New York Rangers NHL’s first $2 billion franchise

On Wednesday, Forbes announced their annual franchise valuation for the National Hockey League. At the top of the list, New York Ranger. But their value is news.

Forbes estimates Rangers’ worth at $2 Billion, the one-year increase is 21 percent and the five-year increase is 60 percent.

Rangers was the first NHL franchise to hit a $2 billion valuation.

Forbes ranked the Toronto Maple Leafs ($1.8 billion) second, the Montreal Canadaiens ($1.6 billion) third, and the Chicago Blackhawks ($1.4 billion) third.

This is the seventh year in a row Rangers has been ranked as the NHL’s most valuable franchise by Forbes.

The New York Islanders ranked tenth with a valuation of $950 million. With their new granary, the one-year increase in Islanders is a significant 83 percent. Their five-year gain was 147 percent.

The New Jersey Devil ranked 15th with a valuation of 775 million USD. Their value has increased by 46% in the past year and 142% in the past 5 years.
