ONE Florida Man who has the bad habit of stealing the catalytic converters from people’s cars, is behind bars.
Earlier this week, detectives identified Pedro Ortega-Guzman as a person of interest in the recent catalytic converter thefts.
On December 8, detectives began surveying Ortega-Guzman and tracked him into a business parking lot off the S. Tamiami Trail.
While in the parking lot, they tracked Ortega-Guzman under a vehicle and managed to steal a catalytic converter.
Pedro Ortega-Guzman was arrested and charged with Grand Theft.
Detectives also executed a search warrant on Ortega-Guzman’s residence, where they placed another catalytic converter.
Police Chief Carmine Marceno said in a statement: “I am very proud of our detective’s proactive work that led to the arrest of this criminal. “My team has always served the community at the highest level by getting criminals off our streets and behind bars.”
