Florida lawmakers move fast to pass controversial abortion bill

Lawmakers are speeding through the controversial abortion bill.

Discussion around the law took place Tuesday for the Florida House of Representatives bill banning nearly all abortions after 15 weeks.

State representatives on both sides are questioning and probing House Bill Five sponsors. This measure bans virtually all abortions after 15 weeks, with no exceptions for rape and incest.

A question that has been heard many times “why 15 weeks?”

“Answer. Grall, does it make sense for 15 weeks? How and why did you choose this number? Did the medical professionals ask?”

Representative Erin Grall (R- Indian River) said so: “There is considerable fetal development at 15 weeks of age, but there is also a US Supreme Court case currently being considered in the United States. 15th week”.

Representative Felicia Robinson (D-Miami-Dade) asked if any doctors were consulted. “Have any analysis been done, or can you tell me why someone needs an abortion after 15 weeks?” Robinson said.

Rep. Grall said, “I’m not sure why someone would need an abortion after 15 weeks, that’s why the bill was presented.”

There are only three exceptions to the 15-week rule. The first would be if the mother’s life is at risk, if it could result in a major loss of bodily function, or if there is a fatal abnormality in the fetus. The fetal abnormality must be cleared up by two doctors.

Today’s Q&A session will turn into a debate on the House floor on Wednesday.
