An evacuation was ordered as wildfire raged in Boulder, Colorado near Table Mesa.
The fire burns near the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder and is known as the NCAR fire.
The fire is small at this time, ABC7 reports, but residents within a quarter-mile radius of the NCAR fire are requiring evacuation.
About 1,200 people are affected by the evacuation order, according to a tweet from the Boulder Police Department.
A wireless emergency call was sent to cell phones to urge residents in the area to evacuate.
“The message is to evacuate the area due to a fast-moving wildfire,” the police department said in part in a tweet.

The Boulder Police Department released another tweet urging hikers in the area to move away as well.
“If you are hiking or recovering near NCAR, please evacuate NOW!
@boulderosmp are in the area evacuating hikers and any people they find.”
The University of Colorado Boulder Police Department issued a tweet that their south campus is also being evacuated.
Strong winds in the area prompt the evacuation.
The fire was reported around 2 p.m. Saturday.
