Find out how Hailey Mia’s Mom helped all the singers during the final season of The Voice (2021)

Tonight is the last show of season 21 of Voice and there are only five artists left in the competition: Wendy Moten, Paris wonham, Jershika Maple, The girl named Tom and 14 years old Hailey Mia, if she wins she will make history as the youngest contestant to do so.

But it is the very fact of her age that makes this competition more difficult for Hailey than for any of her competitors. Not only does she have to do everything everyone else does to prepare for her gig, but she also has to keep up with school.

“It was overwhelming,” Hailey said Parade.com. “It’s like you’re living two separate lives, where you go back to the normal kind of home because you’re still learning online and then a few seconds later you have to go on stage to sing. Those are two different worlds, but it’s easy to manage when you dive into things and know what you’re doing.”

Hailey said that everything was going well, but that could be because she has a mother Gina with her to help keep things running effectively.

“I don’t know what I would do without her,” the New Jersey resident said. And it turns out Hailey isn’t the only one getting care from Gina.

Before he was eliminated, Jeremy Rosado told Parade.com, “Gina is so kind and lovely. She is such a mother. She appeared with words of wisdom and encouragement. It’s unbelievable to have family when you have no family. Even though it’s been incredibly difficult for Hailey and she has to shoulder more than the rest of us in terms of school and everything, it’s a blessing to have your people here with you. Gina is like that for so many of us. She is amazing.”

If she wins, Hailey isn’t sure how she’ll juggle in school with her budding career, but she’s the game to try.

“I have the best teacher in the world, so we’ll see,” she said. “I’m taking it every day.”

Another difficulty Hailey faced that the other four contestants did not face was that she had to get into Live Shows by winning the Instant Rescue. Hailey is one of four artists — each coach picks one — that America or the coaches didn’t initially make it through, but had to sing for last place.

“It taught me that every time I go on stage, I have to bring it,” Hailey said. “I have to go into my head, into my space, and carry it with me at all times. Even when I have a mess, I still have to bring it in and have fun and work hard.”

Now, Hailey’s dream is coming true. Despite the hardships, she made it to the finale.

“I have dreamed of that moment since I was very young,” she said. “I’ve dreamed of being on this show since I was very young and being here is crazy. A few months ago, I was going to school and doing my homework. I was just an ordinary student and now I am in the finale. I still don’t believe it. I’m taking it day by day and trying to work it out, but it’s the craziest thing in the world. I’m so grateful.”

Here’s our more chat with Hailey in which she talks about what her tour will be like, what she’s learned from the coach Kelly Clarksonand how interesting it is to know that Kelsea Ballerini watched her performance of “Peter Pan” and retweeted!

Why do you think the fans voted for you?

I go out there and sing all the time and I’m happy. I think I radiated that energy, hopefully inspiring young people like me who want to sing, so I think young people really see that. That’s why I think they voted for me, so I’m really grateful for that.

What has Kelly Clarkson taught you that you will take away from this experience?

She is a very emotional singer and so am I. I think it’s a good thing to have as an artist and a human being. You want people to connect emotionally and often with you, so that’s a great thing to take away and it’s something I’m definitely going to take away from this whole experience.

How glad are you to know that Kelsea Ballerini watched her performance of the song “Peter Pan”?

I was very excited. My mother told me. She stopped what she was doing and said, “Kelsea just re-posted your performance.” I was like, “What?” I actually got her to say it again. It was really just crazy, and I saw her comment, what a wonderful, wonderful thing she said. I was honored when she got to see it. When you perform a cover of someone else’s song, you never expect them to see it. When they do, it’s the craziest thing in the world. I was honored when she got to see it. I think I gave a great performance that time, so I’m really glad she watched it.

What was your biggest challenge singing “Someone You’ve Loved” by Lewis Capaldi during challenge week?

I’m a ballad singer and I like slow songs and I like big notes. I didn’t really interact with the audience or go around the stage and that was probably my biggest challenge. Having to walk around on stage, dance, and still have to be immersed and emotional, because it’s a really emotional song, but it’s still upbeat, it’s a real challenge to try try to manage it all. those things into one, but I’m satisfied with my performance. I was really confident. It’s probably the best thing I’ve felt in a long time for any of my gigs.

Your album is coming up, do you have any songs yet?

I don’t write my own Music. I don’t have any songs ready for release. I’m just taking it day by day and see what happens.

What will your tour be like?

I haven’t thought about what I want to do for a tour as far as mapping it out. I can imagine myself standing on a big stage talking to people my own age through my music. Hopefully when I get older I will start writing music and people will feel a connection and I will inspire children, teenagers or adults.

What’s the first thing you’re going to do after that? Voice end?

For me, it’s trying to find every opportunity to sing wherever possible and start posting covers.

Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
