Fast and Furious director Justin Lin suddenly makes the “difficult decision” to end the 10th film


Director Justin Lin left his role on the tenth Fast and Furious Film just a few days after the start of production.

In a statement released on the franchise’s official social media accounts, Lin shared that he had made the “difficult decision” to step down from his position at the helm of the upcoming film. Fast X.

Lin has directed five of the lucrative films in the auto racing franchise and is returning for the ninth time last year after a two-film hiatus. F9.

He also co-wrote the latest installment with Dan Mazeau. Although he is retiring from directing the project, Lin will remain as producer.

“With the support of Universal, I have made the difficult decision to step down as director of Fast X while remaining on the project as producer,” Lin said explained in the statement.

“Over 10 years and five films we were able to shoot the best actors, the best stunts and the best damn car chases.”

Before saying goodbye, Lin mentioned his pride at being involved in creating a franchise with a diverse cast.

“Personally, as a child of Asian immigrants, I’m proud to help build the most diverse franchise in film history,” he said.

“I will forever be grateful to the amazing cast, crew and studio for their support and for including me in the Fast Family.”

Fast X is expected to hit theaters on May 19, 2023.
