Fans in Raleigh cheer on the NC State women’s team as they advance in the NCAA tournament

RALEIGH, NC (WNCN) — March madness continues as hundreds of Wolfpack fans gathered at the Reynolds Coliseum Saturday to cheer on North Carolina State women’s basketball at the NCAA tournament.

Fans said their team worked hard to get to where they are now and to get ahead or lose they will bring that Wolfpack pride to help.

A big basketball fan, Kathy Spagnola, said she was proud of the women and their victory.

“I’m super excited. I’ve come to all the games this year and I hope we can go far,” said Spagnola.

That dream of winning it all is a game closer now that NC State has won the first round of the NCAA tournament against the Longwood Lancers, 96-68.

Fans spoke about how wild the experience was.

“The energy is incredible, the atmosphere is cool and the team is very good,” said Jack Blair.

“We’re just thrilled with the Wolfpack women. This is just the first round, which we expect to go all the way,” said Kyle Barger.

This is the third time in four years that NC State will host inaugural round games. Last year the entire tournament took place in San Antonio, Texas.

“We’re just expecting to make it through this round and go into the next round and hopefully come out of this with a championship,” said Hope Eure.

The Lady Wolfpack will take on Kansas State University at the Reynolds Coliseum on Monday.
