Expectations soar after Duke’s epic victory

Ohio State basketball on their home court The 1st Duke is stunned, beat them 71-66. The win was one of the best, if not the best, of Chris Holtmann’s career at Ohio State. This win is huge in changing the Buckeyes’ season goals after showing they can perform at a high level.

OSU didn’t get off to the best start before the game against Duke, which went 4-2. They started to play much better last week after beating Seton Hall and only losing to Florida. The Buckeyes are on the rise, but Duke is an entirely different beast than Ohio State’s past rivals.

It’s hard to imagine Holtmann leading OSU to a win over Duke considering the matches on paper. How will Ohio State protect and limit the front line of the Blue Devils including superstars Paolo Banchero and Mark Williams? Can the Bucks overcome their disadvantage in size and talent against a Duke team shooting all turrets with wins over No. 3 Gonzaga and No. 9 Kentucky?

Ohio State basketball shot down all those doubts, leaving Duke frustrated with anger. For most of the game, the Buckeyes have been on the trail. Much of that, however, was due to unfavorable redirects and missed free throws. However, Scarlet and Gray found a way, in the end, overtaking the Blues 12-0 in the 4:29 finale.

The win itself is huge, but the fact that OSU was able to do this with so many mistakes is encouraging. Plus, there are some issues throughout the game – Justin Ahrens is unable to defend Duke star Wendell Moore.

Buckeyes still find a way and conquer the challenge. EJ Liddell stands out again with 14 points, 14 rebounds, six assists and three blocks. The players who deserve the most credit are Zed Key and Cedric Russell.

Key dominated the lows with his post-match sound on one of the nation’s best interceptors in Williams. The second-biggest man finished with a career-high 20 and was the game’s leading scorer.

Russell came on from the bench and was an immediate motivator. As the Lousiana transfer hit the end of the second half, it was time for OSU to begin their journey to a great end game. He fired a shot that went 3/3 from three and scored a total of 12 points after just 15 minutes of play, which is very difficult to do in the limited minutes.

Ohio State basketball season goals are skyrocketing now

Going forward, a win over Duke changed the outlook for the season. The state of Ohio has so far been quite contradictory. The loss of Justice Sueing has been a huge setback, and the other Buckeyes are stepping up. Now, Key has hosted some great games earlier this year. And Russell – who is expected to make a big contribution ahead of the season – is now giving OSU a big boost in the race and is making his mark on a big role.

Beating the incredibly talented Duke shows off what Ohio State basketball is capable of this year. The Buckeyes can’t be complacent and will need to build on this massive win and find a way to put consistent gameplay together. This win can and should put Ohio State on the path to being a great team this season, rather than ups and downs like an underrated team.

The Ohio State basketball team’s victory over Duke couldn’t be overstated; this changes the season and the team’s expectations for the better as tougher opponents await in December. Expectations soar after Duke’s epic victory
