The Met Office’s long-term range forecast for the end of month to February said: “This period is likely to see a gradual transition to more worrisome conditions.
“Heaviest rainfall is likely to occur in the northwest, especially in later periods, while drier-than-average conditions are more likely to occur in the southeast, especially earlier in the period. period.
“There is a possibility of strong winds, mainly in the north.
“Temperatures can generally be a bit above average. However, some colder spells are still forecast to bring the occasional risk of snow, most likely over the northern hills.”
