Travelers have been wondering for some time when HoYoverse will add The Chasm to Genshin Impact, but now it looks like the wait is almost over. Teyvat is home to numerous regions and cultures, but one place that continues to pose many mysteries is The Chasm – a vast area within Liyue.

While the Genshin Impact 2.5 update finally got Yae Miko released for the game, it also gave players an early look at the next location. Before we venture into the vast deserts of the Sumeru region, however, players can venture into The Chasm.

During the Genshin Impact 2.6 live stream, HoYoverse announced that The Chasm will be released on March 30, 2022. The new location will be released alongside the Ayato banner, the 2.6 Irodori Festival and the Venti banner iteration.

This means travelers won’t have to wait much longer before delving into the depths of these ancient caves.

The abyss details

The Chasm is the next area for Genshin Impact players to explore.

Although The Chasm is currently unexplorable, we do know quite a bit about the area thanks to a bunch of new details. According to the 2.5 livestream, The Chasm was formed after a celestial body crashed into Earth, eventually forming a large mine around it.

The place is said to be filled with strange stones and mysterious ores, while the surrounding soil and vegetation have distinctive colors. The underground mines are the most treacherous areas, and on top of that, unique fluorescent plants can be found down in the depths of The Chasm.

The Abyss in Genshin Impact

The abyss is in Liyue.

Esther, an NPC in Dragonspine, notes that the climate in the canyon is different from Liyue. In discussing Dragonspine’s climate, Esther notes that she has experienced extreme environments before:

“I’ve seen similar occurrences elsewhere in the past, such as the Chasm in Liyue, so there may be some similarities in their respective terrain features.” This likely means the Chasm will share the same mountainous terrain as Dragonspine, though likely to have a dry climate.

The ancient geo-elemental dragon Azhdaha also famously resided in the canyon before finding its way to the trounce domain beneath the Dragon Spring. Judging by the early concept art, The Chasm seems like a pretty big place.

This means players must explore each area to uncover all the secrets hidden within. Of course, the developers might make changes to The Chasm before the 2.6 release, so we’ll be sure to update this section as soon as we get official information.
