United released a trailer for the video on Twitter where the two Red Devils heroes can be seen talking to each other.

“It’s important that people know that you care,” Ferguson said.

Then the camera switches to Ronnie who, sincerely, exclaimed, “Everything he told me, he did. And it was hard.”

And the clip ends with Fergie seriously saying: “You have to understand, some things are bigger than a football club.”

Ferguson scored the Portuguese’s goal from Sporting Lisbon in 2003.

And for the next six years, the 36-year-old went on to become one of the best players in the world.

He scored 118 goals and provided 76 assists in 293 games before earning a then world record of £80m on a move to Real Madrid.

Ronaldo and Fergie build a special relationship during their time together at Old Trafford.

And Sir Alex recently confirmed he played a key role in bringing Ronaldo back to the club from Juventus this summer.

79 years old is reported as private call The great Portuguese in an attempt to convince him to return to United after 12 years away.

Ronaldo had contemplated moving to Man United’s city rival Man City before the intervention of his former boss.

A series of former teammates and executives is also understood to have made a direct plea to the striker as he considers a move.

But that is Fergie’s message to the 36-year-old who seems to have is the deciding factor when he returned to United.

Speaking ahead of Ronaldo’s triumphant return to Newcastle, Ferguson told Viaplay: “I’m as excited as everyone else, I was looking forward to it all yesterday and woke up in the morning.

“I say to all the supporters, it’s been a great day for Manchester United.

“A lot of people played their part [in bringing Ronaldo back] and I contributed knowing that Cristiano really wanted to come here and that was very important. It works very well.

“I wouldn’t say it’s emotional but for me it’s very exciting and a relief because I can’t imagine him playing for Man City again, I don’t think anyone can.

“That’s why we took steps to make sure he got here and the club followed up so well and I spoke to the Glazers and it was done.”
